This website is a display of the drawings of Emily Lisker. These drawings are collected in several volumes of sketchbooks that Emily has compiled over the years, and to which she continues to add, often daily. Unlike much of Emily's other artwork, these drawings have not been used commercially - they serve to keep her hand and imagination limber.

The drawings are not sketched or thought out in advance. Emily just starts in, with a black pen, sometimes borrowing from a visual reference. There are no erasures or corrections, just what comes out of the tip of the pen. The drawings are thus the artifact of an improvised performance; visual jazz, if you will. It takes about an hour to complete a page.
The focus of the website is the slideshow. Each slideshow consists of four images that appear one after the other, fading in and out. The images are chosen randomly out of a sketchbook, cropped (to about 85% of the original image), cleaned up (removing specks and leftover bits from the cropping), and shrunk to webpage size. There is no further editing or manipulation of the images.
All of the other images in the website have been lifted out of various sketchbook pages.
New slideshows are created periodically. If the opening page of the website uses a different image than the last one you saw, that means there is a new slideshow.
If you would like to receive email notification of new slideshows, please contact Emily and leave an address. We don't have an automatic system for this, just Emily's enthusiasm.
There will be occasional announcements of upcoming shows or relevant news items.
